Just Another Blog

Here it goes. When i got back from Redlands it was time for a little rest after a 4 week racing block in California. The weather here was awsome. It was almost hot at some points. What better way to start of a little rest than with some fishing. We had a good couple of days with some giant crappie's. Talk about some good groceries! I had to waiste some time fishing because turkey season didn't open until the 31st of March so i had some time to kill.

The opening day of Turkey season i went out with my dad. We got out to the spot we were hunting before daylight and set up. I started to get light out and the turks started talkin. We listened to them for a long time gobblin their heads off and could never call one up close enough. My dad had to be in Atlanta by noon so he headed out of the woods a little early and i stayed in for a bit longer with no success. I finally came back to the house around 10:30 am and was going to do a little shopping, drove by the feild we were just hunting in and it stood full of turks. So i turned the car around and headed back into the woods. On the way out to the spot 4 jake's (Young males) ran in front of me so I took a shot. I missed and went on out to where i was going. Got out to the feild and sat for a while calling, but nothing happened. I went back to the house, rode for a while, went to the store and then headed back out to the woods for the third time to try my luck. By this time it was about 3:30 in the afternoon. I got out to the field and set up. I called a couple of times, nothing. About 30 min later called some more and then all of the sudden 2 big toms come walking into the field. I called to them and they acted like they didn't hear me, so i called a little louder. After a little louder calling that got their attention and they slowed down. Next thing i know jakes start coming into the field right toward me. This got the toms attention and they started headin my way. They didn't want the jakes to have first cracks at the ladies. So the toms slowly make their way right to me as i called to them. They were standing right next to each other and i blasted. Got 2 in one shot!!! Dang, can't beat that!

Riding has been going so, so. Took some rest like i said and know trying to get some good miles in before Virgina. Sorry for such a long post
