Gila Form

Yesterday we went out for one last Elk Horn climb. The finally put up a gate about half way up. We didn't get harassed by anyone though. I would have to say that i'm not feeling that great. I don't know what it is. I feel like I have had plenty of rest. Maybe it's just because i haven't been racing lately. Maybe some good openers to blow out the system will help with that.

Congrats to Joey T at Bisbee. Sounds like he won the Road race yesterday. That's an awsome result. Keep it up!! We leave in 2 days.

Good luck to the folks in Wyoming racing collegiate. Sounds like the weather is burtal up there.

Mtb Action

Today was an easy day and what better way to have some fun than on the mountain bike. No doubt it was a good time, but i knew something would happen. Sure enough on Sailing Hawks my chain came of didn't know it and was about to hit a short, steep section with some rocks, started to pedal and my knee hit my stem super hard. It has a pretty good knot in it and is really stiff. I hope it goes away quick for Gila. Luckly i'm just resting up until Monday. Guptill got a flat coming back, from an oversized staple. Those few precious minutes were gone and got stuck in about 5 minutes of down poor rain. It got cold real quick, but luckly we were close to home.

Looks like Josh is coming down to Gila to be the Sakonnet manager for the week. That should be good. He has been around plenty of races to know what to do. I can't believe that it is almost time for Gila.

One last bit of good news. Andy has made the jump to the professional ranks as a road racer. He will be doing his first race with Target Trainging at Tour of Gila. We hate to see him go, but that;s what it's all about.

Last Final

Today is the last one for me. I can't hardly wait to get it out of the way. It's going to be a good summer. Had some tt practice yesterday with the boys. It went well and the positioning on the new bike is feeling better. Gila is less than a week away. Speaking of Gila, if there is anyone that would like to come down with the Sakonnet boys for a few extra bucks and a place to stay, to help out feeding and things like that, let me know. We need someone really bad!!

I got a pic message on my phone the other day from Dude. The fish are bitting at home. It's about time for the "shell crackers" to started bedding. This is a pic of what they look like. They are some of the best eating fish there are. I can't wait to get home. Looks like i will be home around May 15th. Turkey season closes the day before i will be getting home. Anyway, better do some more studying for the test.

TT Rig

Did some team time trial practice with the boys today. I think we are going to do some more tommorow. I think Crawford is going to follow us on Guptill's Scoot.

Spent the entire last part of my day working on the new time trial bike. I is really nice. I just have a few more things to do in the morning and it will be ready to go. I can't wait to ride it.

Two finals and one huge paper down , and one final to go. I wish i could just get it over with. Not much else to report.

Silverton #2

Today was another day in the passes up to Silverton. We met at bread at 9:30 this morning to find a good group willing to go the entire way. The ride consisted of Guptill, Wherry, Kale, Mike Carol, Charles, Corry and myself. It was a releif to have more people go than just me and Andy. We met up with Hagman coming down Molas as we were coming back up from Silverton. It got pretty windy on the way back. It was kind of cool too, the clouds never really broke the entire day. Hagman Double flatted at the same time on the way back down molas. No one had ever seen that before. Didn't really feel that great. I think some rest from school and some big days in the passes is well needed.

I was expecting the tt bike today, but it never came. It should be here by Monday. I put together my Ritchey bars for the tt bike. I think there will be some hacking done to them. Sounds like FLC is still killing it in Grand Junction. Good luck in the crit. guys and gals. I guess Hagan had to go up with the team anyway because Crawford couldn't get out of ATL, from the Tour De Georgia.

Tick

Just ticking the days away right now. I can't beleive it is Friday. Yesterday was rough though. I got to school around 7:20am was there all day untill 3:15pm, rushed home to get ready to meet the boys for some ttt practice at 4pm. Got there did the practice and had to rush back home and be back up at school to meet a group at 6pm. Got home at around 8:30pm. That is way to long to be on that campus.

Today should be better, i only have a huge presentation this morning and have to turn in my school website and protfolio by noon. I think i''m just going to turn it all in after my presentation. My Brain is Fried! Check out he site, http://student.fortlewis.edu/jjhayes/. It's kind of cheesy, but whatever.

Nice Day

Today was another nice day in Durango. I think that it got to around 70 today. I headed out the valley with Andy and Wherry after my first class. Guptill turned of at the end of the valley for an easy spin. Wherry and I kept going up to Coal Bank. Wherry stopped there and i went on to Silverton. It was great riding with Wherry and hearing some of his stories, he is one of the nicest guys. It was really windy coming back. Saw Thompson on the way up Molas, he was dropping into Silverton. It's great to see him riding well.

The tt bike is on the way. I can't wait till it gets here. Only 2 more days of class!!

Last week

Well, today started the last official week of school. Man, does that feel good. Today was an off day. I just rode up to class this morning and again this evening. That's like a ride i guess. Wrote a paper in between classes and have plenty more to do tonight. Only a couple more days!

Looks like it will be a good weekk for the pass rides. Sounds like there will be a big group hitting them up this weekend. I guess you could say we had a dust storm today. It got really windy at aroun noon and by 3 or so the sky was just a light brown from dust. Typical spring time weather for Durango.

Ordered the tt bike today, thanks to mom. She is helping me out early so i can get the money back to her as soon as possible. Thanks mom!!

Home Race

This weekend was our collegiate home race. The team did a solid job this weekend to represent the college. We had a FLC team time tral team win, uphill tt win, and the win in the circut race today. Not Bad!! Good job to everyone this weekend. We have such a strong team.

Guptil raced the open Pro 123 and could to only so much with the five other guys on the same team in the break. He pulled through with a solid 4th place.

One more week of regular classes and then a couple of finals the next week. Man i can't waite to be done and go home for a couple of days. Maybe i'll help hunt that bear that attacked the family in Tennessee. I ride up in that area all the time. It's like 15 minute from home. Anyway, good luck to all in Georgia, Todd, D's, Colby and anyone else.

Am I done Yet!!!

I would have to say that these last couple of weeks have been the toughest yet. I am so tierd of school it isn't even funny. I think the only think keeping me going is the weather. Guptill and myself went to Molas and back yesterday. I felt awful. I don't know what is wrong with me. I think i'm just supper tierd from school. My knee has also been acting up on me. It started to hurt Tuesday night during to group ride. I want to take it easy today to make sure nothing is wrong.

This weekend is the home race. Josh should be here tommorow. I think he'll like Durango.

Looks like the TTbike is not in my destiny. I have put my mountian bike on E-bay 2 times now and it still hasn't sold. Maybe i can come up with the money somehow. I have about enough money to pay for half right now. I hope that i get it before Gila.

Golden,CO

It is 7:00am in the morning here. I have been up for a while. I'm watching the Roubaix live coverage. Looks like a good race. Yesterday was the up hill time trial in which Tommy D absolutly destroyed. No suprise there. Alex won the A's, myself second, Lee third, some CU kid 4th and KUhl 5th. Not too bad for the team.

It was good to see Josh finally. I haven't seen him in a long time. I ended up just staying at the hotel again last night because i had a lot of school work to do. I worked on it for about 3 hours straight yesterday. I'm still not done, but I hope i get it done on the way home today.

Good news from Sea Otter, Guptill place a strong 17th for some more NRC points and a couple buck in cash. Keep it up Man, you deserve it. Today is the Circut/Crit for us here. Sounds like it should be fun.

Riding?

I have had no time to do anything! I don't even have time in the day to go for a good ride and the weather isn't helping either. It rained for most of the day yesterday and then i woke up to snow this morning. I haven't been feeling that great so maybe the weather is a good thing. I took yesterday off and don't know if i will be able to ride today. I have to go to the Exercise Science, Senior poster presentations tonight from 5-7. I don't even get out of class today until 3:30. Maybe I'll just ride up to the presentations and call that my ride.

We'll see how this first collegiate race goes this weekend. I should probably stay home and do school work, but i think i can do a lot on the road with the labtop. It will be nice to see josh.

New Place

Well this is the first update from the new room at Unit 5. I has been great so far. I rode to school today twice. I have morning classes with a 6 hour break and then an evening class that puts me back on campus. It's like 25 minutes roughly, one way. I got in like 1:40 just going to class.
Today was a long day though. The six hour break was no break at all when there is school work to be done. I don't know if i'm going to make it another 3 weeks. I hope so!

I can't waite to get home and see Loren, My parents and Loren's parents. Looks like i will get to go home for a couple of days in the later part of May and then it's right back to the racing in Maryland. I'll tell you one thing, there will be a lot of fish with some sore lips when i get home.

Dang!

This weather here is nuts. Snow this morning when we woke up, nothing for a couple of hours, rain for a couple of hours, Sun for an hour and then a hail storm. Took the PLACE test today to take the next step to get my teacher licensing. It was a pretty hard test. Some of the questions were weird. I took the day of due to weather and having to take the test. The bear is also sick and i felt kind of weird last night and this morning so i want to play it safe.

Sounds like Loren got a new car yesterday. She was driving a Yukon, that's rough on gas thats for sure. She got a Poniac G6, pretty cool looking cars. She deserves it. She has worked hard at nursing school.

Good luck to Guptill tomorrow in the race out in Cali. Sounds like a tough course. I'm sure he'll do good. Final Four tonight, it's gonna be good.
