The Bear is Back

The Bear made it back last night and is in need of some serious hybernation. He got pretty messed up at Worlds. Sounds like he did really break is elbow. OUch!! Pretty fast day today. It seemed to fly by. Squezed in a ride inbetween classes. Just did a quick valley. I had a Durango Wheel Club guy sit on my wheel from 550 all the way back to 32nd and then i saw Guptill so i had to stop and chat. Looks like Baz has got'n the plane tickets for the trip to Cali for the opening races. Snow Down starts on Wednesday. It sounds like its going to be big. I think 1145 is going to be in some dance offs because the theme is Disco. It looks like we are going to have to start dish duty again because the sink is over flowing. Oh well, it wouldn't feel right if it wasn't. Enjoy the weather. Yours Truely...

Great weather

Looks like the weather is going to be really nice for the next couple of days or maybe even the week. First week of Trany. Did a little bit yesterday and it felt nice to bump the heartrate up a little. There isn't any official work on Guptill's situation but its looking good for him to be signing with the United Pro team that has resently been established. That would be a great deal if it works out for him. Turned in the first part of my senior seminar project today. Hopefully that will all run smoothly. Only 5 weeks until spring break and McClain. I can't waite. It looks like we will be staying in California for the whole spring break. It looks like it has been finalized to stay and do the Fresno race the weekend after McClain. Looks like the hill climb in Fresno is going to be sick. 2400 feet of climbing in 6.5 miles. Sounds like some sweet courses. Well its time to get on the bike and put some miles in. Yours Truely...

Rest Week

Ah. Rest weeks are great. Its a good thing that I had one this week. I had plenty of school to keep me busy. Hopefully the work load will start to go down a little for the weeks to come. I can't waite to start transition. Hopefully the knees will hold up. I'm really worried about that. Rode a valley with Snyder and Guptill today. We had a good stop at bread before the ride. Guptill dropped some bombs, but i'm going to hold off on posting it untill the final decision is made. Went to RGP's after the ride. Wow! That is some good groceries. Loren found some tickets into San Jose for spring break, i can't waite. There isn't much else to report. Maybe something good will go down. I heard the boys at the Hacienda are having a shin dig tommorow night. Maybe something big will happen. Yours Truely...

Done!!

I haven't updated in a while. I called it for base this past sunday. I thought about extending it a couple of days but my joints just needed some rest. My kneee has been acting up after that last epic with Guptill to navajo in the ice. Base season was great this year though. It was awsome to do some really good training at home for a couple of weeks and then heading to Tucson for a week. The weather held up really nicely here in durango for the last couple of weeks. Not much else is going on. Just trying to keep up with a lot of school work. It's a good thing i got a rest week this week or school would have been crazy. McClain in 6 weeks, yes! Can't waite. I think that I'm going to be able to fly Loren out for that race because it is her spring break at that time. And then maybe stay out in Cali for the week. That should be a blast. Well i have to finish up a project for Dr. Petersen so that's what i'll do. Yours truely..

Not just one, but two

Guptill and I busted out yet another Navajo Dam ride today. It was very enjoyable today instead of miserable like yesterday. Chops and a feller by the name of Ryan joined us today. Not bad. Looks like tomorrow is going to be Guptill's last day of base. Yes!! I think i'll extend my base by a couple of days, but we'll see how i feel after another big day tomorrow. Sounds like Snyder and Kuhl had a good night last night after Meg's B-Day party at Carvers. They said that the LD got evacuated because someone jerked of the urinal off the wall so they had to make everyone leave at like 1am. Speaking of Meg's party, it was nice to have the back room at carvers. It was nice to get up and go talk to everyone and not have to worry about making other people in the joint mad. There was a pretty good group at bread today to start out the ride, but we still need some more people to show up. I was good to see T-Dub there today. Saw Wherry at bread but he wan't even on his bike. He was there with the lady friend grabbing some breakfast. That's all for now. Yours truely...

Navajo

Another big day in the books. Andy and I thought we would go out for another navajo dam ride and we did. Little did we know it was going to be the coldest ride of the base season yet. We started out of Bread right on time a 10am. It was cold. There was still some snow on the roads from the day before. We started out to Ignacio and we were soaked to the bone by the time we got there. The combination of the spray of the somewhat melting snow and the wind chill made the bike and out legs turn to solid ice. The road where still snowy and wet all the way to the dam. We started into Aztec over the never ending rollers and slowly started to warm up. Hopefully the roads will be clear for yet another navajo tomorrow. A bit of bad news on the other hand. My dog from back home had kidney failure over the past week or so and was put to sleep this morning. I wish i could have seen him one last time, but i couldn't. He was the best dog that i have ever been around. He will be unreplacable. Yours truely...

And another one

You know the drill, class at 8:55 and then it is off to meet Todd and Andy at Todds house to do yet another big ride. The ride selection was Chimney Rock today. The ride started out great, made it to Arboles, ready to refuel, and the only little store that used to be open last year had closed down and went out of bussiness. By this point we were over 3 hours into the ride. The next stop was Ignacio where we refueled and brought it on home. It was great to do a fresh ride loop instead of Aztec or Navajo. I think it's supposed to snow tomorrow. I hope it doesn't but you never know. Looks like Kuhl busted out the TT bike to get ready for trany. Look out! Good luck tomorrow for Loren with a big test. I have been talking to her mom back home that takes care of my dog back home and it sounds like he is really sick. I hope everything goes ok. He has been to the vet everyday for the past week or so. I can't waite until the weekend. Yours truely.

Mmm, Mmm, good

This morning was a rough one. I have been really working on my schedule for next semester. It looks like there are going to be some overlapping of classes that i have to have to graduate. I have to talk to the profs. to see if they will let me do both. Other than all of that mess, I got a great ride in with Todd and Andy. We did the classic Aztec loop. The ride was really fast down there and not to bad coming back until we his la Posta. The head wind was quite strong and the sun went behind some clouds, it started to get cold. We cruised on in and wrapped it up in about 4 hours and 40 minutes. After the ride i just had time to get a little food and take a shower to get ready for my 4:40 class. Turned the boys down for Burger Night because of class. Got there and the dang class was canceled. Don't get me wrong, I was happy, but it would have been nice to know that i didn't have to rush over there. So, got back to the place and did some homework and then went to Burger Night. Burger Night was wonderful as usual. Big day tomorrow, i go to class 8:00am to 3:30. Looks like I'll be doing a valley around 3:45 and then hooking up the old jamis to the trainer for a little while. The place is still holding up with its new clean. That's all I've got for now. Yours Truely

Big day of cleaning

We woke up this morning and there was the look of a little snow that may be possible. It wan't 15 minutes later and the white stuff started to come down. I decided to take the day off. Hopefully the next week will be good weather and the body holds up. We did some major cleaning here at 1145 though. We decided to take advantage of some down time and get this place cleaned up. I think combined between Myself, Kuhl and Snyder we dropped like $200 at Wal-Mart for some cleaning supplies. One of the high lights was a carpet steamer. The carpet looks like new thanks to Stanley Steamer Snyder. The place is looking good right now, so hopefully that will last for a while. I just got done finishing up on my topics to turn in for a senior seminar project. If anyone has any really good ideas let me know. Yours truely

That was a big one

Wow, that was another big one. Met up with the boys and the rest of the FLC members at bread at 10:00am. We started off with the group of about 20 for about the first 10minutes. The group was split by Guptill, Kuhl, Snyder, Joey T, Lee Ro, Chopper and myself. We were heading to Ignacio where we dropped off Snyder and Joey to do a Bayfield. The rest of us kept going on to Navajo Dam and on into Aztec. That is a great ride. There are some serious rollers. We made really good time to the Dam and then hit the big rollers on the way into Aztec. These are the type of rollers that just sap the legs. You get to the top of one and think that is it and then you see a huge one up the road. We got to Aztec and refueled the bodies and then it was off for the last couple hours of the ride. The ride back into Durango was a head wind the whole time. Lee got a flat, but soon we were back on the move. Made it back to town and had 6 hours logged in. Chris and I did a rim loop on campus an got in 121miles, yes! Hopefully the weather holds up for another good ride tomorrow. Same time same place, 10:00am at bread. Now it's time for a little updating from back home. I talked to Loren and she said that my dog that lives with her, has some intestinal problems and had to have some surgery to fix it. Loren's mom Jenny is also feeling a little on the bad side so, I hope she starts to feel better. Loren's dad, Russ said that he is catching some slab crappies in the river back home. Man i wish i was there to see Loren and do some good fish'n. Well it's bed time again so...get your recover on. Yours truely

Big Rides and Great Food

Today was a good day. I had class at 8:00am to 8:55am and then i'm done on Fridays. Got back to the Apt. and worked on some upgrade stuff. It's really hard to get your Cat. 1 now days. This guy Thomas Vincent is a stickler. Got ready for the ride around 11:15 and then headed out. The ride consisted of Guptill, George and me. We took out toward Aztec for another day in the saddle. It was a perfect day for a long ride. It was close to 50 degrees down in Aztec today. We made it down there in record time. We started to make our way back to durango and Dr. Kuhl got a flat. He change it and it was about 1 hour later and he flatted again. By this time it was starting to get pretty dark. We got back to the place right at dark. George and me logged in 111miles and Guptill had to get in at least 116 by the time he got back to his place. Took some quick showers and it was off to Tequilas for some great Mexican food with Snyder, Kuhl, Guptill and Kelly. Service was a little slower than usual, but the food was great like always. The plan is to meet at Bread at 9:30am in the morning for a Navajo Dam ride. It's going to be BIG. All are welcomed. Word is Snyder has a photo shoot with the Inependent for cross nats, Superstar! It's past my bedtime so that all for me. Yours truely.

Just another day

I started the day with an early morning ride at 8:00 am. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty cold. I just did a valley. My heart rate was really high from the last couple of days off of the bike. I still don't feel that great, but it was time to get back on the bike. After the ride I jumped in the shower and headed off to class. I start class at 11:15 and don't get out until 3:25. It seems like the longest classes that I have ever had. Maybe it is just the time of day. Not much is going on at 1145. Everything is pretty mello right now. Snyder said that he talked to the Bear today, but it was a short converstation with being in Europe and all. Hopefully things are going ok for him. I had my first paper due today. Can you believe that the second class meeting and i already had a paper due. Man, i was hopping to ease into classes, but i guess not. Until next time, keep on, keep'n on.

The first one

Well this is the first post on this blog. I have a little free time right now because I am a little under the weather. I got out of class at 8:55am and don't have to go back until 4:40. We just got back from Tucson Arizona for the Sakonnet Team training camp. It was great. We got great weather the entire time we were there. Temps were in the high 70's and into the 80's a couple of the days. Base has been going great up until the other day. I came down with a little cold, so I'm taking the day off. Only a week and a half of base left. Yes!! That should be enough for the first post.
